It is a sterile oily solution of estradiol cypionate. Estradiol cypionate is estradiol 17 beta-cyclopentane propionate derived from the esterification of one of the most powerful natural estrogens that is estradiol, with the same actions and uses. The solution in vegetable oil injected intramuscularly exerts a longer action than other esters of estradiol inducing a estrus in most animals with a period of duration similar to a estrus originated naturally.

Composition

• Estradiol cypionate 2 mg.
  
• Chlorobutanol 5 mg.
• Excipients c.s.p. 1 ml.

Indications

It is indicated in veterinary medicine for:

• Anestrus correction.
  
• To stimulate the expulsion of retained placenta or mummified fetuses.
• As replacement therapy in castrated bitches, particularly those with incontinence.
• In the treatment of prostatic hypertrophy in dogs.
• To suppress lactation.
• In cows, mares and bitches for cases of uterine infection, atony and poor drainage of the uterus facilitating the elimination of pus.
• For the treatment of false pregnancy.
• To prevent implantation of the ovum, it interferes in the tubal transport of the ovules in several animal species.
• In the treatment of dairy cattle that retains the corpus luteum.
• In palliative treatment in benign anal tumors.

Purebred dogs

Observations

In case of bitches crossed wrongly the injection must be administered before implantation of the fertilized ovum (implantation is performed after approximately 8 days) after this time the treatment becomes ineffective.

In case the cycle becomes very long due to the use of estrogen, a sterile solution of progesterone could be administered.

In the indicated doses the product lacks toxic effects but in prolonged dose, genital irritation, milk reduction. In these cases the dose should be reduced.

Due to the fact that it is almost impossible to determine exactly the time of ovulation during the induced estrus period, it would be important to subject the female to successive crosses during the induced period to increase the possibilities of conception.
